Lyrics

You gave up all the forests
For greed and more to gain
Killing with precision
Now your feel our pain

Land will dry
The Oceans rise
The song of Fire in the Sky

You may not realize this
But our faith is not in your hands
The longer you keep failing
The more you lose the chance

The gift of life was not that dear
Now you’re bound to disappear

It’s too late to start something new
And once more feel the wind
You always knew

We pick up all the pieces that you left behind
and warn your successor to better have some peace of mind

Now your end is almost near
Don’t you think we’ll shed one tear for you

For you

Background & Recording

Lyrically the theme of the song is about mankind making our planet inhabitable for itself by basically destroying it. The song is written from the perspective of the Animal Kingdom and the Amazon Forest, saying to mankind that they will eventually survive but that it is too late for mankind now. Needless to say Animal Kingdom and Amazon Forest are not sad at all to see Mankind go.

The title No Amends means that mankind no longer has the option to make a change. The bells at the beginning and the end of the song meant to give the song a funeral vibe.

The song is really special for me for multiple reasons. It was sung by my father at a very difficult moment in our lives, this alone gives it a special meaning to me.
I remember that I created the intro when my father bought a new Looper Pedal and we were trying it out. The pedal has some recording options and drums programmed into it. When playing around with the pedal options I suddenly was playing what would become the intro for this song. Immediately I realized that this was something that I wanted to explore further.

This is one of the songs that I’m the most proud of. Although I found it quite difficult to mix, and know that the final mix could be better, it really is a special song for me with great contributions from my brother and father.

The solos also deserve a special word. The solos were traded between me and my brother. My brother played the first solo. It’s a really awesome Gilmourish solo with some great bends and awesome tremolo work. I played the second solo which was a joy to figure out and record. Proud of that one.
